These are extraordinary times. Following up the exceptional circumstances with COVID-19, the European Council Members, European Golf Association, as well as the ECB President, the Eurogroup President and the High Representative, the Eurogroup, together with non-Euro Area Members, on how to respond to the extraordinary human and economic crisis caused by the Corona virus, we agreed that an immediate and coordinated policy response is needed. We will make use of all instruments necessary to limit the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are closely monitoring the constantly-moving situation in the COVID-19 pandemic and carefully following the advice issued to us by the EU, relevant health authorities and our medical consultants.
Mr. Sard Sardarov, President of Kaliakra Golf Foundation, said:
“Our absolute priority is to ensure the safety of players, fans, officials, staff and all involved in our golf tournament and that will be at the forefront of our thinking as we monitor developments.
We recognize that this is a rapidly changing situation and we will keep everyone informed of any changes to our plans. These are difficult times but we are bearing in mind our responsibility for what’s right for golf and most importantly for society.
We have decided to cancel The 2020 Kaliakra Golf Tournament, which was due to take place in June 17- 21th 2020.”
Our commitments of today reflect our strong determination to do whatever it takes to effectively address the current challenges and to restore confidence and support a rapid recovery.
We do believe in rapid and very strict recovery this year and wish to be all together in the next edition of Kaliakra Open 2021.
Till then, stay safe!
